I was not losing weight despite my best efforts and so I became rather disheartened with the whole thing.  This meant that I then started eating crap again!!  Not in my best interests but so much more fun than trying to lose weight.

In the 5 weeks that I was eating well and exercising I lost only three pounds!!  So you can see why I was feeling like it was all a waste of time.

Then I had my free NHS Health Check for getting to the age of 40 (took me 8 months to get round to doing).  Part of this includes a blood test and through that it was discovered that I have an underactive thyroid gland.

So that’s why I got fat!!

Not all the fast food, chocolate, pastries, fizzy drinks and other rubbish I’d been eating for the past three years.

Of course I jest.  But the underactive thyroid would certainly explain why I was finding it so hard to lose the weight my bad diet had created.

I have been on the medication for 7 weeks now and will soon be having a follow up appointment to review how it is going.  Apparently it takes a while for the tablets to get into your system and start working.

Since starting the tablets, I have also gone back to eating healthily, as I want to give myself more chance of losing weight.  In the first few weeks there was no change in my weight.

In the last week, however, I lost three pounds!!  Three pounds in one week.  This makes me rather delighted and has given me the motivation I needed to try even harder.

It must be noticeable too since three people have commented on my weight loss already.
